First thing I did is put the amount or however you like the strength of your tea or coffee in the bottom. Then you pour the hot water into the glass pot. You let it steep for however long you want. When you are done you push down the and press the tea or coffee. The you are done. You completely remove the lid. Make sure you when you take the lid off a hot item you remove slowly and careful of steam burns.
